Dawn… For The 68th Time

It is dawn again…

Twilight: The diffused light from the sky during the early evening or early morning (thefreedictionary.com)

I missed a huge electronic concert today, one that I had invited people to, and had been looking forward for, for over a month. I, simply, did not go.  Ended up at KTV with my friends…

It is always fun to see the change when the elevator’s doors close and it goes up, and when its doors open and we leave. Less people. Drunk people. People whose eyes are closing. People who had just woken up. Coupled people. And it is quiet, apart from drunken giggles… Always fun to watch.

I took a black cab, today (because they are faster and I just wanted him to take me to the subway, 7 min away). The taxi driver got to that bad intersection close by. He stopped at the red light, thought for a second, looked around, changed his mind, and drove through. I went out of my mind, (because it is the bad intersection – huge fast buses, crazy cars, bicycles…) So I started shouting (well, and cursing but he didn’t understand). He assured me and said: “no problem! no problem!”. Oh great, because, you know, for a second there, I thought there was a problem. He tried to explain to me that the metro was blocking the way, so no traffic was coming in his direction. I got off.

Every time he calls me, I seem to be in the subway. I love this guy (NO, not in that way ppl)… He is just an amazing friend. Reminds me of myself, big time. Reminds me of you, as he is very different.

How are you today? Didn’t hear from you in a while… I admit, I have been avoiding you. I have good reasons, though. But yeah…. I think about you, and “I wonder” like she says in “Lemon tree” that we repeated over and over at KTV …. Maybe I should take the lyrics more seriously. There is a line where “you” wonder. They played your song too, creep. And I sang, I shouted it out.

It is light now. Again. For the 68th time.

Note to self: you need to start going to bed before dawn… (or at least before dawn ends!)

My neighbor/classmate is throwing a house warming party tonight. And my room is involved… But that is not the issue, my only concern is that it is light now, and I seem to be throwing a party tonight, oh yeah, and working all day.

Feel free to drop by, bring your favorite: drink or snack or music or bf/gf or whatever… (yes, “favorite” applies to bf/gf, too… )

Helpful Tips (3) – Birthday Edition

The polite response to “Happy Birthday” is “Thank you, that is nice/ sweet/ considerate of you”.

Because you know what, it IS nice, sweet, and considerate of me, that I did not only see it was your birthday when it popped up on my facebook page, I kept it in my mind, and I, actually, told you!

“Oh, actually it is not until tomorrow/ two days/ next week….etc. but thank you anyway”…

No..! I am sorry!!! what was I thinking? How about you give me the exact time when you were born, so I can make sure to add you to my to-do-list, and call you to say “Happy Birthday” on the exact right moment.

You see, this might come as a shock, but as much as I like you and that we are friends (or facebook friends), but you don’t really rank high in my priorities list (you are not even there). So, be grateful that I got it right within a plus-minus week range from the correct date.

This is like when someone, who does not owe you money, writes you a check….and how do you respond: “Date it for a day and a half from now, I don’t need it today”…!

No seriously, I am trying to be nice here, and you make me feel “wrong”. I don’t like to be wrong. No one likes to be wrong, especially when I am going out of my way to be nice! Why would you do that?

Take the check, smile, and be grateful. Deposit the check in your bank account, and use it whenever you feel like.

Nothing personal!  : )

Cycles of China

My love to China goes in cycles. Currently, I feel like “those days of the month” when I am on the lower end, and there is no bright, yellow, big moon.

In China, winters (5 months) have the dry cold desert wind that goes into my bones sucking all the energy out of me. Summers (5 months) are Read the rest of this entry »
